INTERNATIONAL EVENTS @ ODT INTERNATIONAL

ODT’s first international dance event – XPOSITION ‘O’ CONTEMPORARY DANCE FIESTA, was introduced in 2001. To date, it had showcased acclaimed repertoires by international professional contemporary dance companies from Australia, Finland, Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines and South Korea. This biennial fiesta has since drawn more than 10,000 public audiences to its 3 biennial seasons (2001, 2003, 2005 & 2007).

Its success saw the spin-off of the inaugural DanzINC – INTERNATIONAL DANCERS & CHOREOGRAPHERS RESIDENCY FESTIVAL in November 2004. An 8-week residency festival, the company hosted various international dancers/choreographers from Austria, Malaysia, South Korea and Singapore for new Solo Performances, Master Classes and Choreographic Workshops leading to performances of a new full-length work by ODT’s Artistic Director, Mr Danny Tan (2004 Young Artist Award, Dance).

ODT also initated the inaugural SUMMER DANCEFIT FESTIVAL( May - June 2006) which was successfully launched by Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon, Minister of Community Development, Youths and Sports at the Stadium Green, Singapore Indoor Stadium. The 3 weekend-festival drew 15,000 audience and was participated by more than 500 dance performers from more than 15 schools.

Apart from organizing these prominent festivals in Singapore, ODT has also invited choreographers to work in Singapore, such as SYNESTHESIA (1 June 2005, Singapore Indoor Stadium) and DANZINC - Going Solos & Dancers in Collaboration Improvisation (September - October 2006, Black Box - Singapore Indoor Stadium).
